Chosen Sample Pieces
Below are my sample pieces for GNCCF. I chose these pieces to display because I wanted to show the technical aspects of both of them. At this stage, I was aware my work was very obvious in being just geometric patterns, but I also knew I wanted to change this going forward once I developed my ideas.

Artists at the Fair
Huimin Zhang
Huimin is a goldsmith who graduated from the Royal College of art in 2023. Her work after graduating has been creating a collection called 'Living like a Summer Flower" made from 22-carat gold. She makes the gold wire as thin as hair herself.

I came across Huimin's work before GNCCF online and had to go and speak to her. Unfortunately, there was a language barrier so I couldn't ask her the questions I wanted. I find her work incredible. The level of detail and delicateness as well as her innovation skills is something I aspire to achieve in my work in the future.
Lauren Bell-Brown
Lauren is an independent jeweller who graduated from Birmingham School of Jewellery. Her work is inspired by florals from Victorian fairy tale books. Her work is made using cuttlefish casting techniques with hand sculpting and lost wax casting. She uses ethically sourced gemstones or handcrafted textile florals.

When seeing Laurens's work in person I was obsessed with the use of colour and the delicate and organic forms she creates. I spoke to Lauren and had a nice conversation with her about her work and the industry.
Saima Jewel
Saima is a jeweller based in Yorkshire. Her work is influenced by her heritage combining traditional patterns with craftsmanship to create her silver jewellery.

Although this work is what I want to move away from in my practice, Saima informed me that she creates her pieces followed by making moulds of them and then casts them after this. This is so that they are quicker to make but also to make them stronger on the joints which I found a useless tip for my practice.
